Monday Must-Haves: Craving Citrus

I've been drooling over Kate Spade and her "Painterly Lemon" print ever since it came out.  This weekend while shopping with my girl I made my usual stop in J. Crew Factory and was drawn to this sweet tangerine print (shirt above), and now I'm all about the citrus prints.  I guess I'm ready to fast forward to summer already!

This print needs to go in my kitchen!  LOVE the colors.

What about summer are you craving?

Celebrating Creative Dates

Yesterday was gorgeous folks, and there was so much to celebrate! Corey and I spent most of the day outside to enjoy as much of the Spring-like conditions as we could.  Recently, we've both been sharing with each other how we miss the creative part of ourselves.  We both grew up throwing ourselves into creative endeavors…music, art, drama, crafts…whatever.  Being an adult however, with a grown-up job, and pressures, and bills, and life…tends to drown out our creative thinking and rob us of inspiration and time to create.  But creating is something we both desperately miss, so I came up with a little date idea to get us back into the creative swing.  Inspired by my childhood trips to "Camp Dave and Rita" (Uncle and Aunt) where Rita used to take me to botanical gardens and other neat places armed with a sketchbook and art tools, and we'd just find a spot we liked and draw what inspired us, Corey and I took a trip to the park for a little creative inspiration.

Now, I am not an artist (like a drawing/painting artist) so this is all you get with me…

Corey on the other hand…puts me to shame…

If you're looking for a good free date idea, I recommend an art date like ours.  We'll definitely do more like this for sure.  Find a park, garden, cool coffee shop, and write or draw as you feel inspired.

We spent the evening with great friends, and while the boys jammed their hearts out in the basement, the girls did a little shopping…
HAD to have the pink elephant socks from J Crew Factory.  My awesome friend had these earrings and said she wouldn't wear them so she gave them to me!!

Monday Must-Haves St. Pat's Style

Happy St. Paddy's Day to you all, and happy snow day to those of you in my neck of the woods.  Yup, that's right, it's almost officially Spring and we are out of school today due to another winter storm that swept through the area dumping snow on us again.  I can't complain too much though…my green today consists of my William & Mary T-shirt because I'm STILL in my PJs and sipping coffee and loving it.

An Irish Blessing
May joy and peace surround you,
Contentment latch your door,
And happiness be with you now,
And bless you evermore.

Blessings and love to you all on this snowy St. Patrick's Day!

Monday Must Haves

Dear Kate SpadeNY, and J Crew,

If I were rich and super skinny, I would own everything in your stores…

Love,
Your Adoring Fan

It's Monday…and worse than that it's the Monday after daylight savings…but hey…we made it!  Fortunately I got to top mine off with a HH and dinner with my bro who is in town from Texas and I haven't seen since my wedding this summer, and my dad.  I can't really complain…it's been a good day.  Now just dreaming of owning these items and waiting for the hubs to get home and all will be right with the world.

Sweet Saturday

Today, Spring poked it's head through Winter's curtain.  It's been a very long, cold winter, but today's temps were in the low 60s and the sun was shining, giving us just a glimpse at the Spring that's just around the corner.

I wore a dress for the first time in a LONG time and I was absolutely in heaven.  Unfortunately, no pics of the outfit since hubs ditched me for the day.  I was OK on my own though.  The day started with some Zumba, followed by a hot shower, and then a trip to the store to pick up some things for dinner and a few more ingredients to try my hand at making macaroons.

I think macaroons are the most colorful girly-looking dessert ever!  Admittedly, I have yet to taste my first true French macaroon, but it's on the bucket list. I did attempt to make them for the first time ever today under the tutelage of good ol' Martha Stewart.
Everyone warned me that making macaroons was hard, but I still wanted to try.
I tried to make raspberry ones, with some gel food coloring, and a little bit of raspberry extract.  I love how the color matches my mixer!

Fold in the almond flour and confectioner's sugar!

Pipe them into dainty rounds on wax paper and then pop in the oven!

While I overcooked the first batch I placed in the oven, it was totally my fault b/c I forgot to set the timer.
Burnt and too big…they burnt to the wax paper...

The second batch though…I succeeded!

 Stuffed with Nutella!

Not bad for my first try!
Hubby approves!
Look Martha, I did it!

I can't wait to try these again now that I've had practice.  I have so many ideas for flavors and colors.

Any orders or requests?  Haha!

I topped the day off with wine, steak, and SweetFrog; I hope you've had a sweet Saturday too!

Sweet Extended Weekend Life

So excited to be writing to you on yet another snow day.  Now I get to recap highlights of the extended weekend.

Mani/Pedis with one of my favs!
I'm so crazy about mint and gold right now.

Mani/Pedis were followed up by shopping (most perfect girl day ever!) and somehow we ended up with matching rings from LuckyBrand…they match my nails too!

And they match my Kate Spade!

Then there were the Oscars (but we've already rehashed those here).

Snowday Monday looked like this:
A little friendly competition b/t the hubs and I as to who made the better looking crepe.  Can you tell which one I made?  (Hint: It's the prettier one by far!)
Thanks Wegmans for selling pre-made crepes so we could create this delightful breakfast!

How did you/do you spend your extended weekends?

Red Carpet Raves

Happy Snow Day Monday to all those in my part of the world!  Loving my extended weekend, and hubs stayed home with me too so it has been a delightful morning. :)  For once, I got to stay up and watch the entire Oscar award show without worrying about getting up for work in the morning, and I thoroughly enjoyed the awards, performances, and of course the style!  So here they are, the styles I'm raving about from last night's awards.

I cannot get enough of this look!  That necklace with that neckline!  Stunning!

Obsessed with this dress still!  She looked like a fairy.  Just stinking gorgeous!

That color on her skin and the flowiness of this dress had me gawking all night!  The color makes me think Cinderella, and I'm just in love.

Jennifer Lawrence, I don't think I will ever get over you…this dress is classic, simple, timeless, and stunning!

Idina, the necklace makes this dress.  Beautiful!

Admittedly, I was drooling over this dress all night on E!  I think I need it…just to wear around the house…you know. :)

Who were your favorites?  Comment below with your fav red carpet styles!  Enjoy your snow day loves!
